About the Project
Serving the people of Nkomazi, the Nkomazi Local Municipality is an institution looking to help the public with their everyday community challenges. Further serving the communities of Nkomazi on a daily basis and helps them have easy access to their daily services.
As everyone is aware, the ability to do everything online has been a new norm to communities. The municipality has prioritised the public by allowing them to pay their rates and taxes online, and keep updated with matters affecting them.
Previous Website Layout
Challenges
- Complicated navigation which was not clear to visitors.
- Documents are not organized, which is the most important aspect of the website. It was difficult for visitors to access the relevant documents they wanted.
- There were a lot of pages, including the administration page which entails the responsibilities of the municipality as a whole, it had no content that gives accurate and relevant information.
- It was a challenge to contact and communicate with the municipality since the contact page had no clear contact details, numbers, email addresses, and a contact form.
- There were no social media icons linking to the relevant social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Since this is a municipality website, there was no page indicating nearby accommodation and tourist attractions.
- There was no events calendar to notify the public of any upcoming events relating to the website.
Possible Solution
- After thorough research and competitor analysis, Wiggle Digital has designed a fully functional and exceptionally attractive Nkomazi Local Municipality website. This allows visitors to easily navigate the menu and clearly see the tabs they want. We implemented features that make it easy for the public to access services that would require them to physically visit the municipality.
- We have taken time to re-organize documents including tenders and public notices to be easily accessible and downloadable.
- Developed and designed new pages as per our research and competitor analysis. These pages include Accommodation, Tourism, Location, and Culture & Languages.
- Added relevant content on existing pages which includes Community Services, Planning, and Development, Infrastructure, Corporate Services, Budget & Treasury.
- We also prioritized making it easy for visitors to visit the municipality’s social media platforms directly from the website.
