With times changing trends also change due to technological innovations and the consumer behavior changing so does the buying pattern and that is called Digital Darwinism , the current market has also adapted to changes in the market and marketing industry which have made the marketing industry to come up with new marketing strategies to communicate with their target market and make sure that the intended message gets to their target market in time using different types of medium that are relevant to their target market, this draws us back to the days of traditional marketing to see how much the marketing industry has achieved to improvise the world of marketing and the flow of information of which it has been overtaken by digital marketing.
TRADITIONAL MARKETING VS DIGITAL MARKETING
Traditional marketing is referred to as a broad category that integrates many forms of advertising and marketing. It’s the most recognizable type of marketing, encompassing the advertisements that we see and hear every day. The examples of traditional marketing might include tangible items such as business cards, print ads in newspapers or magazines, posters, billboards and brochures, commercials on tv and radio.
While Digital marketing is referred to as a form of inbound marketing and its goal is for people to find you, examples of digital marketing include: websites, social media mentions, YouTube videos, and banner ad.
The debate continues as to whether digital marketing is overpowering and taking over traditional marketing or not, many think that the digital marketing has taken over and traditional marketing barely exists at all. Since some magazine companies have gone Digitally such as Women online, crush magazine, and Africa Geographic magazine this has caused ripples and questions to media conglomerates.
This goes without asking because technology has improved and the market has adapted to the trends brought to it so now everyone wants to follow trends digitally as it is cheap, time-saving, and convenient for young and old professionals now most people want to buy everything online without any hassles and they want to read and view ads online, and companies have responded to that by providing different communication channels for the ones using computers, tablets, and mobile phones If we can take for an example a well credible company like Vodacom it has provided e-learning online and it has provided positive results because the audience is also able to give feedback which makes it more convenient to know that the products and services introduced to the market are being consumed and whether there should be any changes made or alternative products or services that can be introduced to the market.
Traditional marketing because of its longevity people are still accustomed to it, finding ads magazines and reading billboards are still familiar activities and people are still doing them most of the time, traditional marketing is only reaching a local market even though it is not limited to one.
